Giving Thanks

I can not believe it’s about to be our third holiday season spent with Sawyer.  I don’t even really remember what holidays were like before we had our crazy monkey man.  Last year I was somewhat in a funk about it all, but this year I am GUNG-HO about getting things decorated and celebrating to the best of my ability.  I’ve already put up my Christmas lights and made a new wreath!  I just found another DIY wreath idea, too, and so I think that will be my new project this weekend.  I’m pretty pumped to be all Christmas’ed out!

But before all the craziness of Christmas begins, I’d like to stop and write my list of “Thanks” for 2009.  It’s pretty important to me to stop and realize what an amazing life we have and to remember to count my blessings!  It’s easy to go on with life without really paying much attention.

So here is my list!

1.  My family.  Wow – between mine and Sean’s, we really have some wonderful people we can call ours.  I know everyone thinks their family rocks, but I know mine does just a little bit more than usual.  :)

2.  My son.  I have learned more in his 2 1/2 years than the 25 1/2 prior to becoming a parent.  Everything I thought was “important” has been tossed to the wayside and now I know what true love is!  Sawyer’s smile can make any day better and I love how his little hand fits into mine.  He’s an amazing kiddo.

3.  My dogs.  Yea – I know.  They are dogs.  But, they are ours and even though I threaten daily to send them to the pound, I’ll be so sad when they are off to greener backyards.

4.  My job.  It allows me flexibility, great wine and opportunities I only dreamed about 2 years ago.

5.  My friends.  Man, I have some great ones!  They are always there when I need them the most and I appreciate the love they give me in return.

6.  My faith.  It’s growing every day and while it might not be in a conventional way, I’m excited to see where it’s going.

7.  My camera.  It’s captured many moments I’m so glad I can relive over and over again!

8.  My DVR.  It lets me watch all sorts of tv whenever I want, and usually without having to watch commercials!

9. My funny husband.  He’s totally the peanut butter to my jelly.

10.  My life in general.  It’s pretty awesome, even when things are tough.  I have parents that love me, friends that continuously deal with my shortcomings and love me anyway and a support system that never lets me down.  I’m a lucky girl!

Happy Halloween 2009

DSC_0716We really had a great Halloween.  My friend, Larissa, and her son, Jonas, joined us for DSC_0745some ghoulishly good times and it was fun to have someone to go around with.  This year Sawyer went as Frankenstein.  A big switch from the zoo animals of years past!  I still can’t believe it was Sawyer’s 3rd Halloween!  This year was the most fun since Sawyer really understood what Trick or Treating was all about and really got into it.  He was so polite, too, always saying “please” and “thank you!”   He scored a ton of candy and had a blast with his buddy, Jonas.  Those two tore up the neighborhood! Pop also got into the festivities this year and dressed up as Frankenstein, too!  Big Frank and Little Frank was a huge hit!

Another Treat from the Big Apple

Mr. John sent Sawyer another treat – this time a Halloween cookie in the shape of Frankenstein!  Funny thing is, he didn’t even know that was the costume Sawyer picked to be this Halloween!  We have such sweet friends…

Thanks, again, Mr. John!!!

Family Birthday Party

Daddy turned 32 this year, and along with other family members with October birthdays we all gathered at our house to celebrate!  It was so much fun – Daddy smoked ribs, made homemade mac and cheese (yum) and everyone brought WAYYY too much fun!  Sawyer wasn’t much for taking a nap that day – he didn’t want to miss a thing!  It was a great day to hang out with our loved ones…

Sawyer was helping Grandma blow out her birthday candles…and

blew a raspberry all over it instead!  It was pretty funny…..
